The performance opportunities are numerous and consist of 7-10 performances. Performances include concerts, Jazz festivals, and community performances. The HS Jazz band performs a 3 hour big band dance each year which is a fundraising experience for future Jazz band trips.
Concert attire is a black collared/button shirt, black pants, shoes, and socks.
Pep Band
Pep Band is an exciting part of the Varsity Band experience with its main function to create and support pride in all activities by entertaining and “pepping” up the crowds at Waverly events.
There are two pep bands established that divide the band equally. Varsity members are required to be at Pep Band assignments. Students are only expected at there assigned nights. Students can always come to all pep bands if they would like to receive extra credit and lettering points.
As a collective ensemble there will be no more than two pep bands per week per the recommendations of the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association. This is done in an effort to not overwhelm or abuse the instrumental students within our school. Weekend pep bands will not be assigned unless it is a District Final or State Tournament.
Freshman Band members have the option of participating in pep band for extra credit and lettering points but it is not required.
While participating in Pep Band students are asked to wear our Waverly Band Shirts for uniformity and pride.
